How toxic are the pesticides you use?

The products we use are the safest ones in the market. They are considered very safe to be used in and around domestic homes. We use them in child care centres, nursing homes, hospitals and restaurants as well. And remember these are the products that our technicians deal with all day long every day without any problem.
However, your health and our technicians’ is our highest priority. So, you must follow our technicians’ safety precautions to make sure everybody is safe while treatment is carried out.

Do your chemicals smell?

Most of the pesticides we use are odourless. Pesticides applied for internal treatment don’t smell at all. Our external treatment has got a very weak odour which fades away as it dries.

Do your chemicals leave stain on the surface of treated areas?

No. The applications we use don’t leave any stain on the surfaces.

How long will your pesticides last?

BUGZOFF applies the most effective and expensive pesticides both for internal and external treatments to give its valued clients the best services. Chemicals and dusts used internally and externally in a residential or commercial area will only last approx. 6 months. Termite treatments have a maximum limit of 10 years. Cockroach gels will only last for approx. 3 months. Rat bait can last for years in a roof void but only up to a few months in rat bait stations. Guarantees are usually in sync with how long each chemical treatment lasts.

How often should I get my house treated?

It’s highly recommended to carry out Integrated General Pest Treatment every 6 months to get rid of all kind of pests and avoid their infestation. The reason is that the most effective pesticides won’t last more than 6 months and there are lots of bugs out there in Sydney which like to invade your home foraging for food and water to survive.

Do I need pest control in the winter?

Yes. When the temperature starts to drop outside, especially overnights in Sydney, cockroaches, spiders, mice and rats seek shelter from the cold temperature. Unfortunately, they find your warm home such a cosy place with plenty of food. So, it is important to take preventative measures to keep them out.

I have pests on the inside, is it necessary to have external treatment as well?

In most cases Yes. BUGZOFF Integrated Pest Program is designed to stop pests before they get in your home! We create a barrier around the perimeter of your home to decrease an insect’s ability to gain entry. However, if pests do gain access we have treatment methods that will effectively eliminate them.

Do you guarantee your services?

Yes. We guarantee most of our services. General Pest Guaranties ranging from 3-6 months and Termite Treatment Guaranty will be up to 10 years.

Do you offer Free AfterCare Services?

Yes. As long as your service is eligible for guaranty, you’ll automatically benefit from Free AfterCare Services during the period of your guaranty.

Do I need to move furniture prior to treatment?

Although you certainly don’t have to move all of your furniture, you should move couches, chairs, end tables, mattresses and other furniture 10-15 cm away from walls to make it accessible for treatment.
Of course, you are required to remove food and utensils, kids’ toys, pet’s food, sleeping beds and water bowls from the area being treated to prevent their contamination.

Do I have to empty my kitchen cupboards for cockroach treatment?

We use a much more targeted approach for cockroaches by treating cracks and crevices and gel baiting inside your cupboards. So, you don’t need to empty them. But we’ll appreciate it if you make it as accessible as possible for our technicians to do treatment more effectively and easily.

Do I have to vacate the house while you spray?

It is strongly recommended to vacate the house, leave the ventilations on and get back home after a couple of hours when the chemical is dry. However if you prefer to stay home while we are there we also understand this. We just ask you to stay out of the room while we are treating. If you have young kids, any pregnant lady or asthmatic person at home, they must be vacated for a few hours.

I have a pet, is it safe to keep them inside home while you are spraying my house?

The products we use are recognised as the safest in the market and targeted only for pests and that’s why most of pest management companies call them pet-friendly pesticides. But keep in mind that pets like cat and dog use their noses to explore everything and can easily end up inhaling, absorbing and ingesting the pesticides. As we care about your beloved pet to be safe, we recommend to keep your pets away from home and take them back after a couple of hours when the chemicals are dry. If you have a fish tank inside, you must cover it with a waterproof cover or a towel.

Which areas do you treat?

The General Pest Treatment is normally an internal/external treatment including the crawl spaces. But we essentially target the areas which will maximise the products exposure to the pest but is also safe to do so. These areas typically include skirtings, cornices, beneath and behind fridges and dishwashers, edges of the building, edges of footpaths, sub floors, garden edges, fence railings, around windows and behind downpipes, beneath carports and pergolas, around the garbage bins and inside the garage.

What if it rains on the day of the treatment?

The chemicals we use for the perimeter of your home are residual. They will adhere to the surface like paint and won’t wash away after a few rains. However if it is already raining, the external treatment won’t be done on a rainy day and our Technicians will reschedule it for the first available dry day.
You may be concerned about the durability and efficacy of external treatment after lots of rains. This is also the reason BUGZOFF offers a 6 month Free AfterCare Services to give you the relief that we stand by our treatments.

How long after the initial treatment does it take to see results?

Results will vary according to the type of pest, treatment methods and products used. For example, immediate results can be seen when a wasp nest is removed or treated with a liquid pesticide. However, when using baits for ants, rodents, and termites the process takes longer since the pests have to ingest the product for it to be effective. Unfortunately, the pests will not disappear overnight, and they all don’t just simply hit the product and die at once, we need to allow time for the pests to come into contact with the product and for the product to actually work on the pest.
For General Pests such as ants, bedbugs, fleas, crickets, silverfish, cockroaches and so on you need to give 3-4 weeks after treatment to see the result.
For Rat Extermination, You’re advised to allow 1-2 weeks to gain control of the rat population, the reason is the rats need time to find the bait and then for the bait to actually work. You even sometimes hear an increase in noise after we have baited due to rats fighting over the bait and sick rats getting chased out by other healthier rats.
Your inspector and technician will outline what your expectations for your particular problem should be.
If you see any pests after expected time for result or you think the treatment isn’t working as good as you have expected, please feel free to call BUGZOFF for Free AfterCare Services.

How long after treatment can I mop the floors or clean?

It is recommended that mopping of floors be fully done prior to treatment. Avoid mopping the edges of your floors for a while after treatment if you want the full strength of pesticide on the control of pests. You can mop the middle of the floors and leave the edges for the loathsome critters.
Do not clean down the spider webs up to 10 days after treatment.

Can I pressure wash our house after the treatment?

No. Pressure washing is designed to clean surfaces back to their original condition, and this of course can remove any residual insecticide we have applied. It is therefore best to organise your pressure washing to take place before your next treatment.

I have just found termites what should I do?

If you find termites in or around your property, it is essential that you do NOT disturb them at all neither kill them with insecticides or any other DIY methods because it will frighten them off, makes it harder to treat them and they will attack somewhere else in your home. For us to be able to treat termites we need to have active termites. The more termites we can treat the more successful the treatment is likely to be. So, if possible tape up the damaged area using cloth or duct tape, you can even use cardboard for large openings. And then contact our BUGZOFF termite specialists for an inspection of the property and advice on the protective measures available.
